When we think of Christmas, we think of Santa. And when we think of ‘Santa’ we automatically picture a wise old man with a long white beard in a red suit, working ‘tirelessly’ all round the year to make kids happy on Christmas. Unfortunately, we have all come to accept that Santa, a mythical worldwide hero, exists only as a man. But if you look around, you’ll find a lot of Santas in real life – and they’re all just as wonderfully giving. But not all of them are men.
For a while now, generations of women have been challenging traditional gender roles – especially when it comes to being a provider (and in many cases the only one) for their families. At Swiggy, we not only want to join this movement, but also fuel it. And last year, we took a tiny step forward in that direction with this film.
Our narrative carries a simple message: We want to normalize and celebrate women venturing into the male dominated delivery industry. We want to inspire them to take the leap and become the ‘Santa’ for their loved ones; because we firmly believe that just because you’re a hunger savior at home doesn’t mean you can’t be a hunger saviour on the road. So here’s to women taking charge of their own destiny, and we’re nothing but thrilled to be a part of their journey.
